Amy Smart is a former American actor and model. The modeling career she began with was in Italy, in which she was born and raised, before being was born in California. She made her acting debut in the year 1996 with The TV film Her Costly Affair. The actress struggled for the role she wanted on Starship Troopers. The transition was difficult for Amy as she had to move from modelling into performing. Models aren't regarded as the best actors and so tend to be given smaller roles that aren't very important. Amy did not give up and eventually she landed bigger parts in the movies Varsity Blues and The 70s. In 2005, she was cast on the lead role in the romance comedy Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. Amy found her recognition after more than 10 years struggling. Amy went on to star in major films such as the Crank Series alongside Jason Statham, and Shameless.
