In 1997 she began her acting career when she was 13 years old. Her acting debut came when she was 13 years old in 1997. After taking classes and acting as a background actor on Canadian shows like Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps She was also offered speaking parts in the Canadian horror series Are You afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps. Both series were aired by YTV. Apart from commercials, Vandervoort also appeared on YTV as also guest-starring in films such at Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story.
