In 1997 she began her acting career when she was 13 years old. Her acting debut came when she was 13 years old in 1997. After taking classes and acting as a background actor on Canadian shows like Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps She was also offered speaking parts in the Canadian horror series Are You afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps. Both series were aired by YTV. Apart from commercials, Vandervoort also appeared on YTV as also guest-starring in films such at Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. Goosebumps was also element of her work. Vandervoort was able to make her feature film debut in 2006, with The Lookout. She starred with Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also on the show. Numerous other appearances on television including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation led Vandervoort to take on the role of Clark Kent's Kryptonian counterpart "Kara Kent" (the girl who was to be Supergirl) for The CW serial drama series Smallville. Her appearances on season seven and eight of the show were as a regular in the series, "Bloodline". She returned to Smallville for two episodes in the finale season of the show, also her 10th season. [4] Following The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort then shot the sequel in the feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. The film also starred Canadian actor Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
